Abducted tea garden manager released
ITANAGAR, Sept 16: The manager of Sati Tea Estate C N Pandey, who was kidnapped on 12th of this month from his home by three armed gunmen, has been released last night by his captors. At around 11.45 PM, Namsai police found him in the forest area near Wagun Pathar village of Piyong circle under Namsai subdivision.
As per the preliminary reports the kidnappers after kidnapping Pandey took him to the jungle area and kept hiding there. Immediately on receipt of information SP Tezu who was camping at Namsai rushed to the spot along with army, police and CRPF and launched rescue and recovery operation. He also alerted security forces of adjacent Changlang district and sealed all exit points which compelled the kidnappers to confine themselves in the area. Further the armed forces launched operation in the entire area and created heavy pressure on the kidnappers. Feeling pressure the kidnappers left Pandey and escaped. Operation to nab the culprits is going on in the area. The situation was closely monitored by PWD, Planning and Finance minister Chowna Mein, DC and SP Lohit.
There is no immediate confirmation whether Pandey was released on paying of ransom or captors let him go after security officials launched manhunt in the area.
While local authorities refused to make any comment in public regarding which group had carried out the abduction, privately they admitted that hand of United Peoples' Democratic Front (UPDF) a local underground outfit cannot be ruled out.
In recent days Lohit police had launched massive operation against UPDF leading to the surrender and arrest of its cadres. Security official believes that UPDF carried out abduction of tea estate manager as a retaliation act against Lohit district administration. UPDF is alleged to have tied up with other underground groups like ULFA. They are very active in Namsai and Chowkham area of Lohit district.

One ULFA cadre killed in encounter
ITANAGAR, Sept 16: A hardcore cadre of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) was gunned down in retaliatory fire while two others were apprehended along with huge cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation conducted jointly by Army, Police and CRPF at Winseng Nangtaw, Lohit area recently.

The ULFA cadre was killed when the security forces retaliated after the ULFA cadres started firing on them during the search operation. The slain ULFA cadre was identified as Giranta Moran, 25, of Kakojan under Tinsukia district in Assam.
Another militant Mirdul Moran was captured alive and the third militant identified as Gojen Khek @ Rocket was apprehended by security forces at 1.30 pm on September 15.
A huge cache of arms and ammunition, including two 9 mm Pistol along with magazine and 18 live rounds, 5 Kg explosive with two detonators, one Chinese Grenade, three Magazine of Magpul Rifle with 112 live rounds (5.56mm) were recovered from their possession.
State BJP mourns death of former RSS chief
Itanagar, Sept. 16: The rank and file of state BJP condoled the death of former RSS chief K.S. Sudarshan following a heart attack on September 14.
Born on 18 June, 1931 in Raipur, Sudarshan sacrificed his whole life for the cause of the nation.
He served as Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for six decades in various
capacities in different parts of the country and became the RSS Chief in 2000 and
held the post till 2009. Sudarshan was well versed with the ground situations of
the NE states, including Arunachal Pradesh and had emotional attachment and connectivity
with its people. He contributed a lot to the people of Arunachal Pradesh for their
well being and empowering them in the fields of socio-

Neolithic tool found in Takshing
ITANAGAR, Sept 16: A Neolithic stone axe was found in Taksing area of Upper Subansiri district recently. The black color rectangular shaped tool is made of diorite stone with sharp cutting edge. Both the surfaces of the tool are fully grounded and polished. Few sears are also seen in the lateral margin of the tool.
This type of tools are believed to have been used by the people in the Neolithic age, most probably in agriculture and farming activities, Director of Research Dr. Tage Tada said.
The Neolithic period began in India during 7000 and lasted until around 4000 BC.

'EKSWCO striving for upliftment of poor and downtrodden'
Seppa, Sept 16: The East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organisation (EKSWCO), the parent body of all the organisations in East Kameng held a conference to build confidence of Sajalong (Miji) and Puroik (Sullung) communities at Abotani Munch here on September 14.
Addressing the conference, Zilla Chairperson Sepi Bagang, stressed on true freedom and liberty of Puroiks (Sullung) and bringing them into mainstream. He suggested the community members to develop work culture to be at par with other tribes.
EKSWCO Chairman T.Taku, said that his organization was striving hard for the development of poor and downtrodden so that they can march forward hand in hand with other tribes.
He appealed PRI members to create awareness among the rural masses to eradicate ill practices like child marriage prevailing in the society.

GPF calls 12 hours bandh and mass casual leave in 3 districts
ITANAGAR, Sept16: Claiming that the government has failed to restore law and order problem at Capital Complex and others parts of the state and protect its citizens, Galo Peoples’ Federation (GPF) today declared 12 hours bandh in three districts namely Upper Siang, East Siang and West Saing and other Galo inhabited areas and mass casual leave on September 19 next.
Various cases have been remained unsolved despite grievances were placed before the authorities, GPF resented. It demanded early arrest of the culprits involved in Tamar Yoka’s family murder case (Nirjuli) on 3rd March 2012 and assassination bid on life of Haku Tatak on 6th April 2012. Federation said that it would compel to go ahead with agitation if the authorities fail to act on their demands.

Cultures & Heritage (RIWATCH) organized a free medical check-
Over 100 persons were examined by a team of doctors that included Dr Bikul Das of Stanford University School of Medicine, US, who shot to limelight in the medicine world after he made a major breakthrough to crack the elusive cancer code, or a part of it.
Dr Das is also the recipient of a prestigious grant under the Gates Foundation’s Global Health Grant to explore the role of stem cells in the management of tubercular infection.
The medical camp was organized by the Department of Public Health Research, RIWATCH. The other Doctors in the team were Dr SJ Mitapo and Dr Ista Pulu, gynecologist.
During the camp, medicines were distributed free to the patients. Eye, heart, bones and all forms of disease examinations were done free of cost by the team of 3 doctors. Equal numbers of staff were also present to assist the doctors.

A lost day
Dear Editor,
Every morning when I open the pages of the Arunachal Times the first news that strikes me is the bandh that is taking place in various parts of our state. It is disheartening to see that the people of our state still do not understand the hideous impact that a bandh causes in the society. The general impact is on the urban society but many forget to see the impact that it has on the rural society. The earning and food of the rural people come by the daily selling of the local goods. If there is a bandh he/she is deprived of it and there is no alternative for him/her to feed their empty stomachs.
Therefore, through the esteemed daily I would like appeal to the people and the various unions of our state to consider these things before calling a bandh.

Few words regarding Seppa PMEGP interview
Dear Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to draw the kind attention of concern authority towards recent PMEGP interview conducted at Seppa. The entire process and method of PMEGP was ridiculous. The first error and faulty method was that charge of form fee. The industry dept charged Rs. 50 per form. When I visited KVIC at Itanagar, I came to know that form is provided free of cost. Though I informed the department about cost free form, but fee was charged.
The second problem was extension of date for reception of form. The last date for reception of form was fixed on 7th Aug, 2012 by department t but it was extended for more than two weeks. When I enquired about extension of date the reason was nothing but limited sales of form. How ridiculous it was ! Ok, it was over.
The third blunder mistake was that the chairman and board members did not ask me
a single question. The chairman simply checks my document and nothing else. I felt
that I was not attending the interview but just to see the face of chairman and board
members. As we know that the main motive of PMEGP is to provide employment to educated
unemployed youth. In such situation, how educated unemployed youths can be self-
